ADB announces ‘significant’ flood relief package

ISLAMABAD :  The Asian Development Bank( ADB) blazoned on Tuesday a “ significant ” relief and recuperation package for flood tide- hit Pakistan, designed to “ support people, livelihoods, and structure incontinently, and in the long- term ”.

 In a statement, the ADB said that it would use ongoing systems to repair damaged structure, including roads and irrigation structure, and to support the development and fiscal stability of the husbandry sector to boost food security in the short and medium- term. 

 “ We ’re also recycling countercyclical support to help the poor and vulnerable, especially women and children, whether the impacts of food prices and other external shocks, ” the statement said. “ In the long- term, we ’ll priorities systems that support post-flood reconstruction and strengthen climate and disaster adaptability, ” it added.  

 “ We'll give further details of our new backing package when it's finalised. We'll work nearly with the government and other transnational agencies to help rebuild lives and livelihoods of the further than 33 million people affected by the disaster, ” the ADB concluded.
